Freezer Repair Problems We Solve

In Edmonton winters or summers, a broken freezer means lost food fast. Kodiak technicians prioritize freezer calls and carry the most common freezer parts on every truck.

Not freezing

Compressor, start relay, or condenser coil issue — we diagnose on site.

Frost buildup

Defrost heater, thermostat, or timer failure. We clear it and fix the cause.

Making loud noise

Evaporator fan motor or compressor noise — both diagnosable on site.

Running constantly

Door seal, condenser coils, or thermostat issue. Wastes electricity.

Temperature too warm

Thermostat, door gasket, or condenser fan. Caught early, food stays safe.

Water pooling underneath

Blocked defrost drain — a quick and common fix.

Freezer not turning on

Control board, thermostat, or start relay. We carry all standard parts.

Door seal damaged

Warm air entering = frost buildup and energy waste. Easy gasket swap.

Common Questions

Freezer Repair FAQ

My freezer isn't freezing — what's the most likely cause?

The most common causes are a failed evaporator fan, a faulty start relay, or frost buildup on the evaporator coils blocking airflow. Compressor failure is less common but more serious. Our tech will diagnose and quote before any work begins.

There's frost buildup inside my freezer — is that a problem?

Yes. Excessive frost usually means the defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or defrost timer has failed. Left too long, it restricts airflow and causes the freezer to stop cooling entirely.

My freezer is running but the temperature is too warm — what's wrong?

This often points to a dirty condenser coil, a failing evaporator fan, or a refrigerant issue. We'll diagnose on the first visit.

Do you repair chest freezers and garage freezers?

Yes — chest freezers, upright freezers, and garage freezers. We come to you; bring your unit in is never required.

How long does a freezer repair take?

Most are done on the first visit in 1–2 hours. Sealed system repairs take longer and may require a return visit.
