About JennAir

A Brand Built on American Innovation

JennAir began with Louis Jenn, whose Indianapolis company — founded in 1947 — introduced the first self-ventilating downdraft cooktop in 1961 — a technology that let you install a range in the middle of an island without an overhead hood. That single innovation defined the brand for the next 60+ years.

Today JennAir is owned by Whirlpool Corporation and remains their premium American brand. The lineup focuses on built-in refrigeration, wall ovens, and their signature downdraft cooktops. Repair work on JennAir is a specialty — the downdraft motor assemblies in particular require techs who know the platform.

Design Recognition

JennAir products regularly win Kitchen & Bath Design Awards, Good Housekeeping awards, and Consumer Reports commendations. The brand's Rise and Noir design collections have shifted the visual language of premium American kitchen appliances.

Honest note from Kodiak: JennAir downdraft repair is a specialty — many general appliance techs skip it because parts are model-specific and diagnosis takes experience. Kodiak takes JennAir seriously; if we're not the right shop for your specific repair, we'll tell you.

JennAir Repairs We Handle

Our Edmonton technicians know the JennAir platform. We aim to stock the most common parts so most repairs can be done in a single visit.

Downdraft Motor Failure

The downdraft ventilation motor is JennAir's signature part. When it fails, the whole cooktop is affected. We diagnose motor vs. control vs. ductwork before quoting.

Cooktop Element and Igniter Faults

JennAir electric cooktop elements and induction coils can fail individually. We diagnose which element is faulty and replace only what's needed.

Wall Oven Convection Fan

Convection fan motors on JennAir wall ovens develop bearing wear or fan blade damage. Usually a straightforward diagnosis and replacement.

Built-In Fridge Compressor Issues

Column-style built-in fridges have sealed refrigeration systems that require specialty tools if a compressor or sealed-system issue arises. We diagnose and honestly say whether it's worth repairing at your specific fridge age.

Icon Control Panel Failures

JennAir's Icon control panels can develop touch-response or display issues. We diagnose whether it's the panel itself, a wiring issue, or a control board fault.

Warming Drawer Element

Warming drawers on JennAir wall oven combos use heating elements that eventually fail. Straightforward element swap in most cases.

Every JennAir Appliance

Washers, dryers, fridges, dishwashers, stoves, freezers, and over-the-range microwaves — we fix them all.

Common Questions

Yes — JennAir downdraft is one of our specialties. Most general repair techs avoid it because parts are model-specific and diagnosis requires knowledge of the platform. We know it.

Yes. Column refrigeration requires additional service access work (removing panels, sliding units) and we quote fairly for the extra labor.

Common wear items (elements, fans, controls) are readily available. Downdraft motors and column-fridge specific parts sometimes take a few extra business days. We'll always give you a timeline before you approve the repair.

Usually yes, especially built-in units. The install cost of a replacement built-in is substantial, so repairing a working platform often makes better financial sense than replacing. We'll do the honest math with you.

Yes. We service the full JennAir residential lineup — older Icon-series units and the newer Rise and Noir design collections.

We do post-warranty repairs only. If your appliance is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact JennAir directly to have an authorized warranty technician handle it. Once the warranty period has passed, we're happy to step in — flat-rate pricing, and a 90-day warranty on our own parts and labour.
