Dacor is a built-in brand. The appliance is integrated into the cabinetry, which makes replacement a renovation rather than a purchase — and makes a correct diagnosis worth considerably more than it would be on a freestanding machine. Kodiak services Dacor wall ovens, induction and electric cooking and dishwashers in Edmonton.
Dacor was founded in 1965 by Stanley M. Joseph in Southern California and stayed in the family for three generations, which is unusual in an industry that consolidated early and hard. The company built its reputation at the top of the market, designing for kitchens where the appliance is part of the architecture rather than an object placed in front of it.
In August 2016 the family sold the company to Dacor. Dacor kept its own identity and its headquarters and manufacturing facility in City of Industry, California, and launched the Modernist Collection under Dacor ownership. For service the acquisition brought something concrete: Dacor's parts and distribution network now sits behind a brand that previously had the sourcing challenges of any low-volume luxury manufacturer.
Honest note from Kodiak: Dacor appliances are feature-rich and well-built. Ice maker issues on certain French door fridge models are a well-documented weak point in the industry. We'll always give you a straight diagnosis before recommending a repair.
Our Edmonton technicians have seen every Dacor failure mode. We’ll carry the most common parts on every truck so most repairs can be done in a single visit.
An electric wall oven that heats but undershoots is usually the element, the temperature sensor, or the seal around the cavity letting heat escape. Three different repairs at three different prices, which is exactly why testing beats assuming on an appliance at this level.
Induction hobs are electronics-dense. A single zone failing while the others work normally is diagnostic information — it points at that zone's generator board or coil rather than the cooktop as a whole, and it is a far smaller repair than the symptom suggests.
Glass touch panels on cooktops and ovens can fail at the control board, at the ribbon connection, or from moisture ingress. The failure looks catastrophic and often is not. We test the chain before recommending the expensive part at the end of it.
Integrated dishwashers hide their plumbing behind a cabinet panel, so a drain fault that would be obvious on a freestanding machine is not. Filter, drain pump, or the hose run under the sink. Panel removal is part of the job and we account for it.
A heavy built-in door that no longer closes flush lets heat out and pushes the oven to overwork. Hinges and the cavity gasket are wear items on a door that size, and both are defined replacements.
Boards are among the more expensive Dacor parts, so we treat them as the last conclusion rather than the first. A sensor reading incorrectly produces very similar behaviour at a small fraction of the cost, and that is worth ruling out properly.
Washers, dryers, fridges, dishwashers, stoves and freezers — we fix them all.

Yes. Dacor acquired Dacor in August 2016. The brand kept its identity and its California headquarters and manufacturing. The practical benefit for owners is access to a much larger parts and distribution network than an independent luxury brand would have.
Usually, yes, and more so than a freestanding appliance. The unit is fitted into cabinetry built to its dimensions, so replacing it generally means millwork as well as an appliance. Repair is the cheaper path far more often than not.
They are low-volume components engineered for a specific platform rather than shared across millions of units. We quote parts separately on your invoice so you see the actual figure before approving anything.
Yes. Removing and refitting a cabinet panel is part of the job on an integrated appliance, and we plan the time for it. We take care around surrounding millwork — on a built-in, the cabinetry is part of the work site.
Very likely not. Induction zones have their own coils and generator boards, so one failing while the rest work normally usually points at that zone rather than the appliance. It is a much smaller repair than it appears.
$119, covering the diagnosis, credited against the final invoice if you proceed. Parts are quoted separately and shown to you before anything is ordered.
