Kenmore has been an American appliance staple since 1927. Because Kenmore is a brand label, the machine underneath can be built by LG, Whirlpool, GE, or Frigidaire depending on the model. Kodiak's Edmonton techs read the model number and know which platform we're working with — that's what keeps diagnosis fast and accurate.
We'll get back to you and confirm your spot on the list.
Kenmore was founded in 1927 and sold at Sears for the better part of a century. The brand became a household name for its workhorse washers, dryers, and refrigerators — appliances that quietly ran in millions of North American homes for decades. Retail availability has shifted since the Sears era, but millions of Kenmore machines are still running in Canadian homes — and keeping them running is exactly the kind of work we like.
Here's the thing most owners don't know: Kenmore is a brand label, not a manufacturer. Your Kenmore washer might have been built by Whirlpool, your Kenmore fridge by LG, your Kenmore dishwasher by Frigidaire. Reading the model number tells us which OEM built it — and that determines which parts we source and how we diagnose it.
Manufacturer Partnerships
Kenmore has partnered with LG, Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire and others to manufacture its appliances. The model number sticker on your unit reveals the OEM — a Kenmore washer with a model number starting with '110' is typically Whirlpool-built; '796' is LG-built. Knowing this changes how we source parts.
Honest note from Kodiak: Because Kenmore is rebadged, some parts are easy to source (Whirlpool platforms) and some are harder (older LG-built models with discontinued parts). We'll always tell you upfront if a repair depends on a hard-to-find part.
Our Edmonton technicians know the Kenmore platform. We aim to stock the most common parts so most repairs can be done in a single visit.
The Kenmore Elite series (Whirlpool-built) has a well-known control board failure pattern. We diagnose and replace the board, and test the full cycle before leaving.
Older Kenmore top-loaders (mechanical transmissions) develop wear over 15+ years. We assess whether the transmission is repairable or if replacement is the honest recommendation.
Kenmore side-by-side fridges (particularly LG-built models) develop ice maker fill valve and thermistor issues. We fix the specific failure — usually not the whole assembly.
A blown thermal fuse on a Kenmore dryer usually means restricted airflow — often a lint-clogged vent. We fix the fuse AND clear the vent so it doesn't happen again.
Water valves on Kenmore front-loaders fail after ~7-10 years. Simple, inexpensive part replacement. We stock the common variants on the truck.
The lower bake element in Kenmore electric ranges is a wear item. Visible failure (breaks or burns through) usually means straightforward replacement in 20-30 minutes.
Washers, dryers, fridges, dishwashers, stoves, freezers, and over-the-range microwaves — we fix them all.
You get a firm labor quote before we start. Parts shown separately on your invoice.
How it works: Labour is our flat rate, quoted before we start. Parts are quoted separately. Some parts take longer to source; we'll always tell you upfront.
We know every Edmonton neighbourhood. No call centre — just a local team that shows up when they say they will.
Every Kodiak job comes with liability insurance and a parts-and-labour warranty. Your home is protected — and so is the repair.
We quote labor as a flat rate before we start. Parts shown separately — no hidden fees, no hourly clock running while we work.
Yes. The model number on the sticker (usually inside the door or on the back) reveals the manufacturer. We check this before quoting, so we know which parts to source.
In most cases yes. Older mechanical Kenmore top-loaders were built to last and often just need a wear item replaced. If a critical part is discontinued, we'll tell you upfront and let you make an informed repair-or-replace decision.
It affects parts sourcing but not the labor. We'll quote you the same flat-rate labor. Parts are billed separately as always — LG-sourced parts sometimes take a few extra business days to arrive.
We carry the underlying OEM parts (Whirlpool, LG, Frigidaire, GE) which are what actually fit your Kenmore machine. Same parts, sometimes without the Kenmore label on the packaging.
We're an independent repair company that services all major brands including Kenmore. If your appliance is still under Kenmore's warranty, contact Sears or Transformco first for warranty-covered service. Out of warranty, we're happy to help.
We do post-warranty repairs only. If your appliance is still under the manufacturer's warranty, contact the brand directly to have an authorized warranty technician handle it. Once the warranty period has passed, we're happy to step in — flat-rate pricing, and a 90-day warranty on our own parts and labour.
