Liebherr Appliance
Repair Calgary

Liebherr does one thing and does it seriously: cold. The company’s refrigeration is engineered for precise temperature and humidity control rather than feature lists, which makes it a favourite in Calgary kitchens where food storage is taken seriously. Kodiak services the full Liebherr fridge and freezer range.

About Liebherr

A Brand Built on From Cranes to Cold

Hans Liebherr founded the company in Germany in 1949, and its first business was cranes — a heritage the group still trades in today. Refrigeration came a few years later. In 1953 Liebherr decided to enter the field by building his own production facility in Ochsenhausen, in southern Germany, and the first Liebherr fridge came off the line in 1954.

The timing was deliberate. At that point roughly one in ten German households owned a refrigerator, and postwar economic growth was about to change that. Liebherr built for the demand curve ahead rather than the market in front of him. The engineering emphasis that came out of that period — precise temperature control, long-life components — is still what distinguishes the brand, expressed today in technologies like BioFresh and NoFrost.

Signature preservation technologies — BioFresh and NoFrost

What BioFresh Actually Does

BioFresh is Liebherr’s patented compartment technology, holding produce and proteins in a narrow band of temperature and humidity rather than the general fridge environment. The practical effect is that food keeps its texture and appearance longer and less gets thrown out. NoFrost handles the freezer side by preventing ice buildup rather than requiring you to defrost it. Both are systems with sensors and controls — which means both are things that can be diagnosed when they misbehave.

Honest note from Kodiak: Liebherr is a European brand with a smaller North American installed base than the mass-market names, so some parts are ordered rather than stocked. We hedge on timing rather than promise a date, because that’s honest. What you get in exchange is a machine built to run a very long time.

Liebherr Repairs We Handle

Our Calgary technicians know the Liebherr platform. We aim to stock the most common parts so most repairs can be done in a single visit.

BioFresh Compartment Temperature Drift

The whole point of BioFresh is a tight temperature band, so a drifting sensor shows up as produce spoiling early even though the main compartment seems fine. Sensor faults and control faults look identical from outside; testing separates them.

NoFrost Fan or Heater Failure

NoFrost depends on circulating air and a periodic defrost cycle. When the fan or the defrost heater fails, ice accumulates on the evaporator and airflow drops until the compartment stops cooling properly.

Door Seal and Alignment

Liebherr units, especially integrated ones, are precisely fitted. A gasket that hardens or a door that has drifted out of alignment lets humid air in, which shows as condensation, frost and a unit that runs far longer than it should.

Electronic Control Faults

Liebherr uses electronic controls throughout the range. Erratic temperature readings, unexplained alarms or a display behaving oddly can be the board — or a sensor lying to it. These are very different repairs and worth telling apart before ordering.

Compressor Start Components

Start relays and capacitors fail before compressors do. A unit that clicks and won’t start, or starts and quickly stops, is usually a start component rather than the compressor itself — a much smaller repair, if it’s diagnosed correctly.

Ice Maker and Water Systems

On plumbed models the inlet valve, fill line and filter behave much as they do on any brand — frozen fill tubes, weeping valves, restricted flow. Common, and usually inexpensive to put right.

Every Liebherr Appliance

Washers, dryers, fridges, dishwashers, stoves, freezers, and over-the-range microwaves — we fix them all.

Flat-Rate Pricing — No Surprises

You get a firm labor quote before we start. Parts shown separately on your invoice.

Standard Repair
$220 – $350
Labour for most Liebherr repairs — parts replacement or labour-only. Parts quoted separately when needed.
Service-Call Fee
$119
Applied toward your repair if you proceed. Covers diagnosis and travel.
Complex Jobs
Higher — quoted on-site
Sealed systems, control boards, and multi-part failures are priced on diagnosis.

How it works: Labour is our flat rate, quoted before we start. Parts are quoted separately. Some parts take longer to source; we'll always tell you upfront.

A note on European refrigeration: Liebherr parts are priced above mass-market equivalents and some are ordered rather than stocked, since the North American installed base is smaller. We quote parts separately and hedge honestly on timing rather than promising an arrival date we don’t control. Labour stays flat-rate in the range above.

Strong Hands, Honest Work.

Common Questions

Liebherr has a smaller North American installed base than the mass-market brands, so some components are ordered rather than stocked. We’ll tell you honestly at diagnosis whether your part is a common one or a special order, and we don’t promise arrival dates we can’t control.

It’s a compartment held in a tight temperature and humidity range to keep food fresh longer. Yes, it’s repairable — it depends on sensors, controls and airflow, all of which can be tested and replaced.

NoFrost prevents ice under normal operation, so ice building up means something in that system has stopped working — commonly the defrost heater, its thermostat, or the circulation fan. Worth looking at before airflow shuts down entirely.

Yes. Integrated installations are common with this brand. We take care around surrounding cabinetry, since on an integrated unit the millwork is part of the workspace.

Generally yes. These are long-life machines and the build quality justifies fixing rather than replacing in most cases. If we find a fault where that isn’t true, we’ll say so plainly rather than take the job.

No — Kodiak doesn’t service wine coolers or wine fridges of any brand. We’d rather tell you that upfront than send someone out to decline the job.
