Dryer Duct Cleaning Problems We Solve

Clogged dryer ducts are the leading cause of appliance fires in Canadian homes. Kodiak's Edmonton technicians use professional rotary brushes and high-powered vacuums to clear lint buildup from duct runs up to 35 feet.

Clothes taking too long to dry

If a normal load takes 2+ cycles, lint buildup is likely blocking airflow.

Dryer feels hot to the touch

Blocked ducts trap heat inside the unit — a serious fire hazard.

Burning smell during drying

Lint near the heating element can smoulder. Stop and call us now.

Duct flap not opening outside

Clogged duct prevents the flap from opening — restricts exhaust flow.

Dryer shuts off mid-cycle

Thermal overload is tripping because of restricted airflow.

More lint than usual on clothes

Sign of restricted exhaust flow pushing lint back into the drum.

Last cleaned more than 1 year ago

Annual cleaning is recommended — especially in older Edmonton homes.

Flexible plastic duct installed

Plastic ducts crush and trap lint. We swap to rigid metal if needed.

Common Questions

Dryer Duct Cleaning Repair FAQ

How do I know if my dryer duct needs cleaning?

The most common signs: clothes taking longer than one cycle to dry, the dryer feeling hot to the touch, a burning smell during operation, or the exterior vent flap not opening when the dryer runs. Any of these means the duct needs attention.

How often should a dryer duct be cleaned?

Most homes should clean the duct every 1–2 years. Longer ducts, homes with pets, or dryers that run frequently may need cleaning annually.

Is a clogged dryer duct really a fire hazard?

Yes — it's one of the leading causes of house fires. Lint is highly flammable, and a blocked duct traps heat with nowhere to go. Regular cleaning is the single most effective prevention.

Can you clean the duct if my dryer vents through the roof?

Yes. Roof vents are more complex but we service them. We'll assess the routing on arrival and quote before starting.

My dryer takes two cycles to dry clothes — is that definitely the duct?

It's the most likely cause, but not the only one. A partially blocked duct and a failing heating element can produce the same symptom. If cleaning doesn't fully resolve it, we can diagnose the dryer on the same visit.
